About Department :
The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering was established in the year 1984 with an intake of 60 undergraduate students. Since then the department has come a long way and is now regarded as one of the premiere departments of the institution with an intake of 300 undergraduate students and 61 post graduate students per year.

It is equipped with outstanding infrastructure and boasts of a unit of 70 learned and dedicated faculty members and sincere staff who work with zeal and enthusiasm to provide a vibrant and optimum learning environment to the students and help them acquire the skills which are required to excel in today's competitive environment.
The department has Nine recognized research guides under Anna University, Chennai. 16 research scholars obtained their doctoral degree from the department. To motivate the research activity among faculty members, they are grouped under six research groups like Image processing group, VLSI group, Signal processing and Communication group, Information Retrieval group, Networking group and Medical electronics group to carry out the research in the advanced research fields. At present 21 internal research candidates and 22 external research candidates are pursuing their Ph.D programme under the department of ECE. The department believes in serious academic pursuit and encourages radical and original thinking which paves the way for creativity and innovative ideas. The qualities inculcated into the students make them not only good engineers but good human beings also.
The excellent placement record which has been consistently above 85 % for the past several years, alone of our students is ample testimony to the emphasis that has been placed on the industrial needs of our country. Our students got placed in companies like Tata Consultancy Services, Cognizant Technology Solutions, WIPRO Technologies, Infosys Technologies, Jasmine InfoTech, Mobiveil, Soliton Technologies, Benchmark Broadcast Systems Pvt. Ltd. and HCL Technologies Limited.
The department has a close interaction with the alumni and is continuously using their inputs for improvement of the curriculum and research facilities.
The Department has been accredited by the National Board of Accreditation (NBA) for the period of 3 years in 2002 and 5 years effect in 2006 & 2013.
